The Taalcafe: meet, practice and grow together!

Would you like to improve your Dutch speaking skills? Or would you enjoy meeting new people from your neighbourhood? Then come join het taalcafé at Wijkcentrum De Mortel, every Wednesday morning from 10.30 to 12.00 hours.

In a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, participants practice the Dutch language together with Astrid and Lian, who teach Dutch in an interactive and enthusiastic way.

Learn Dutch together at het Taalcafé
Participants practice Dutch by speaking together and connecting with others. The lessons are interactive and accessible for everyone, regardless of language level.
Participants do not need to speak perfect Dutch, because learning happens by practicing together in a relaxed atmosphere. Astrid and Lian guide the lessons enthusiastically and encourage everyone to participate in conversations and activities. By meeting others from the neighbourhood and practicing together, participants improve their Dutch speaking skills while building confidence at the same time. The Taalcafé offers everyone the opportunity to improve their Dutch and meet new people in a welcoming environment.

Taalcafé 2.0 for parents with children
For participants who would like to join but cannot because they have children at home, The Taalcafé offers Taalcafé 2.0.
During the lessons, children of participants are taken care of in a group located next to the classroom. Children can play there while parents attend the lesson. This makes it easier for parents to participate in the Taalcafé and improve their Dutch speaking skills. To support Taalcafé 2.0, volunteers who enjoy working with children are welcome to help during the sessions. People who are interested in helping as a volunteer at Taalcafé 2.0 can send an e-mail to the organization.

A safe and welcoming place
The Taalcafé creates a safe and welcoming place where participants can be themselves and grow. The lessons focus on meeting others, practicing Dutch together, and creating connections within the neighbourhood. Everyone is welcome, regardless of language level. Participants are encouraged to tell others about the Taalcafé or bring someone along to join the lesson. By learning and practicing together, residents strengthen both their language skills and their connection with the community.
